Description

Crispy and flavorful garlic parmesan chicken wings cooked to perfection in the air fryer. These wings are coated with baking powder for extra crispiness, tossed in a buttery garlic parmesan sauce, and seasoned with dried parsley for a delicious party appetizer or snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Wings

  • 1 kg chicken wings
  • 1 level tbsp aluminium-free baking powder
  • ½ tsp table salt
  • ½ tsp pepper

Garlic Parmesan Sauce

  • 90 g unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 50 g parmesan, finely grated (about ½ cup)
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • ¼ tsp table salt (optional)
  • ¼ tsp pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the wings: Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture, which helps to achieve maximum crispiness when air frying.
  2. Coat with baking powder and seasoning: In a large bowl, toss the wings with aluminium-free baking powder, ½ teaspoon salt, and ½ teaspoon pepper until evenly coated.
  3. Preheat the air fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 200 degrees Celsius (about 400 degrees Fahrenheit) for approximately 5 minutes.
  4. Air fry the wings: Arrange the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 35 minutes, flipping them halfway through to ensure even cooking and crispiness.
  5. Make garlic parmesan sauce: While the wings cook, melt the unsalted butter in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté gently for 1 to 2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.
  6. Combine parmesan and seasonings: Remove the butter and garlic mixture from heat and stir in the grated parmesan, dried parsley, optional ¼ teaspoon salt, and ¼ teaspoon pepper. Mix until well combined.
  7. Toss wings in sauce: Once the wings are cooked and crispy, transfer them to a large mixing bowl. Pour the garlic parmesan sauce over the hot wings and toss thoroughly to coat each wing evenly.
  8. Serve immediately: Serve the garlic parmesan chicken wings hot as a delicious snack or appetizer. Optionally, garnish with extra parsley or parmesan.

Notes

  • Using aluminium-free baking powder is essential to avoid any metallic aftertaste and to ensure safe consumption.
  • Patting the wings dry thoroughly before coating with baking powder enhances crispiness.
  • If you prefer less salty wings, omit the optional ¼ teaspoon salt in the sauce and add salt later to taste.
  • For a spicier option, add a pinch of chili flakes to the sauce.
  • The wings are best served immediately but can be gently reheated in the air fryer for a few minutes to restore crispness.
