Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 8 oz uncooked short pasta (farfalle, elbow noodles, penne, rigatoni, ziti, rotini, Fiber Gourmet, whole grain, or gluten free)
- 1 tsp dried Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- Pinch of red chili flakes (optional)
- Olive oil cooking spray, as needed
Instructions
- Boil Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package directions until al dente. Drain well and transfer to a large mixing bowl.
- Season Pasta: Spray the cooked pasta generously with olive oil cooking spray and toss well to coat. Add grated Parmesan cheese, dried Italian seasoning, garlic powder, kosher salt, black pepper, and red chili flakes if using. Toss to combine all the ingredients thoroughly.
- Air Fry Preparation: Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Arrange the seasoned pasta in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overlapping. You may need to cook in batches depending on your air fryer size.
- Air Fry Pasta Chips: Cook the pasta chips for 4 minutes at 400 degrees. Toss or shake the basket, then cook for an additional 4 to 5 minutes until the pasta chips are golden brown and crispy to your liking.
- Oven Bake Preparation: Alternatively, preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread the seasoned pasta in a single layer on the baking sheet.
- Bake Pasta Chips: Bake for 20 minutes or until the pasta chips turn golden brown and crispy. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
- Serve: Serve the pasta chips warm or at room temperature alongside dips such as zero point marinara sauce, homemade skinny Alfredo sauce, cheese dip, or skinny ranch sauce for dipping.
Notes
- Use your preferred type of short pasta; gluten-free or whole grain options work well.
- Be sure to spread pasta in a single layer to ensure even crisping.
- Air frying cooks faster and crisps pasta chips nicely; oven baking is a great alternative if you don’t have an air fryer.
- Add extra seasonings or chili flakes to customize spice level.
- Serve as a snack, appetizer, or part of a casual meal.
- These pasta chips are a viral TikTok trend known for their addictive crunch and flavor.
