Description

This Creamy Garlic Shrimp recipe features succulent shrimp cooked in a rich and velvety garlic parmesan sauce. Perfectly seasoned and ready in just 15 minutes, it makes an elegant and satisfying dinner served over rice, mashed potatoes, or polenta.

Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Sauce

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3/4 cup vegetable or chicken stock
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the Shrimp: In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the peeled and deveined shrimp, season with salt and black pepper, and cook until the shrimp turn opaque and pink, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  2. Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Pour in the vegetable or chicken stock, bring to a simmer, and let it reduce by half, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in the heavy cream and cook until the sauce begins to thicken, about 3-5 minutes. Add the grated parmesan cheese and stir until melted and the sauce is smooth.
  3. Combine: Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat them evenly with the creamy garlic parmesan sauce. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
  4. Serve: Garnish with the chopped fresh parsley and serve immediately over your choice of rice, mashed potatoes, or polenta for a delicious meal.

Notes

  • Jumbo shrimp is recommended for the best texture, but any size shrimp will work well.
  • For added richness and depth of flavor, substitute half of the stock with dry white wine.
  • Prepare side dishes in advance to have everything ready when the shrimp finishes cooking.
  • Freshly grated parmesan cheese provides the best flavor and texture for the sauce.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat leftovers gently in a saucepan over low heat, adding a splash of water if the sauce is too thick.
