Description

Enjoy these delightful Biscuit Dough Donut Holes, made from simple biscuit dough deep-fried to golden perfection and coated in cinnamon sugar. Served with a luscious semi-sweet chocolate dipping sauce, they make for a quick and irresistible sweet treat perfect any time of day.

Ingredients

Scale

Donut Holes

  • 1 can buttermilk Pillsbury Grands biscuit dough (8 biscuits)
  • Vegetable oil for deep frying (enough for 1-inch depth in pot)
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Chocolate Dipping Sauce

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: Open the package of biscuit dough and cut each biscuit into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a smooth ball shape to form the donut holes.
  2. Heat the Oil: Heat a large heavy pot over medium-high heat and add vegetable oil to a depth of 1 inch. Heat the oil to 350 degrees Fahrenheit for frying.
  3. Fry the Donut Holes: Carefully drop a few dough balls into the hot oil, frying them until golden brown on all sides, which takes about 2 to 3 minutes. Remove them with a slotted spoon and place on a cooling rack or paper towels to drain excess oil and cool slightly. Repeat with remaining dough balls in batches.
  4. Coat with Cinnamon Sugar: On a plate or shallow bowl, combine granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Roll the warm donut holes in the cinnamon sugar mixture until evenly coated.
  5. Make the Chocolate Sauce: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine semi-sweet chocolate chips and heavy whipping cream. Microwave on high for 30 to 45 seconds until the chocolate is fully melted. Stir well until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
  6. Serve: Serve the cinnamon sugar coated donut holes warm alongside the chocolate dipping sauce for a delicious treat.

Notes

  • Use a thermometer to maintain oil temperature at 350°F for perfect frying results.
  • If you don’t have Pillsbury Grands, any flaky biscuit dough will work.
  • For a lighter dipping sauce, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half.
  • Be careful not to overcrowd the pot when frying to ensure even cooking.
  • The donut holes are best enjoyed fresh but can be kept in an airtight container for up to two days.
