Enjoy these delightful Biscuit Dough Donut Holes, made from simple biscuit dough deep-fried to golden perfection and coated in cinnamon sugar. Served with a luscious semi-sweet chocolate dipping sauce, they make for a quick and irresistible sweet treat perfect any time of day.
Ingredients
Scale
Donut Holes
- 1 can buttermilk Pillsbury Grands biscuit dough (8 biscuits)
- Vegetable oil for deep frying (enough for 1-inch depth in pot)
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Chocolate Dipping Sauce
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup heavy whipping cream
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: Open the package of biscuit dough and cut each biscuit into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a smooth ball shape to form the donut holes.
- Heat the Oil: Heat a large heavy pot over medium-high heat and add vegetable oil to a depth of 1 inch. Heat the oil to 350 degrees Fahrenheit for frying.
- Fry the Donut Holes: Carefully drop a few dough balls into the hot oil, frying them until golden brown on all sides, which takes about 2 to 3 minutes. Remove them with a slotted spoon and place on a cooling rack or paper towels to drain excess oil and cool slightly. Repeat with remaining dough balls in batches.
- Coat with Cinnamon Sugar: On a plate or shallow bowl, combine granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Roll the warm donut holes in the cinnamon sugar mixture until evenly coated.
- Make the Chocolate Sauce: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine semi-sweet chocolate chips and heavy whipping cream. Microwave on high for 30 to 45 seconds until the chocolate is fully melted. Stir well until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
- Serve: Serve the cinnamon sugar coated donut holes warm alongside the chocolate dipping sauce for a delicious treat.
Notes
- Use a thermometer to maintain oil temperature at 350°F for perfect frying results.
- If you don’t have Pillsbury Grands, any flaky biscuit dough will work.
- For a lighter dipping sauce, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half.
- Be careful not to overcrowd the pot when frying to ensure even cooking.
- The donut holes are best enjoyed fresh but can be kept in an airtight container for up to two days.
